Global Issues…

I have chosen the topic of poverty.

Today nearly half of the world’s population lives on less than $2.50 a day which is 3 billion people.  More than 1.3 billion people live on less than $1.25 a day, which is only approximately $420 a year. Many people are reduced to begging and stealing. 805 million people around the world do not have enough food to eat,  more than 750 million people don’t have access to clean water and in 2011 165 million children around the world were stunted (reduced rate of growth and development) because of malnutrition. This is a serious issue and we need to start doing something about it now.

Hunger is the number one cause of death in the world, it kills more than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. It needs dealing with now.
